Grading thoughts

What have I been up to since my last update? Well, we've kept nicely and relatively busy during the weekend and the evenings. Like, having friends over and visiting friends.

Ellen's Mac mini is low on disk space, which of course got me to look at those external hard drives designed to stack beautifully with a mini ...

Drive thoughts or not, some stuff is being cleaned out, and soon there might just be enough space to install a few software updates waiting in line. Did you know that the combo updater to 10.5.2 actually requires 2,5 gigabytes of free hard drive space to let itself be installed?

And now my connection to bjoreman.com was lost ... It really is no wonder that so many people like offline editors so much for creating and managing their postings ... I bet I could grow to love something like MarsEdit in no time at all, especially if I had a site that supported submitting directly to it. I went and had a look at Chyrp the other day, and the combination of simplicity, open-ness and a nice bird on the start page actually has me idly entertaining the idea of perhaps, somehow, some day switching from my cosy home-made mess of PHP to something a little bit more readymade (and perhaps more flexible and secure). On the other hand, there's the fact that my system both does pretty much what I want right now. It can also usually be bent into doing new things with decent ease. And, I guess because of how no-standard my site is, my weird combination of anti-comment spam measures have not let a single spam message through in what, about two years? That's not something I'd consciously trade away.
