I was listening to yet another old episode of Cortex. Myke and Grey had a brief discussion about their oldest downloaded IOS apps and how much-maligned Evernote was their second and sixth (if memory serves) downloaded apps, and the oldest one still in use. Myke also mentioned the Itunes remote as one of his very first downloads.
On a whim, I went in and checked my very oldest downloads.
Itunes remote was the very first one.
The second one was Evernote!
I do know I used Evernote on the Mac for a while, but the way my memory presents things my usage was so brief and limited that I never really considered myself as having had a Evernote period at all. But I clearly had something going on with the app back on July 10th of 2008.
My oldest app still in use? Wikipanion, which I downloaded on September 5th 2008 and still use daily or even multiple times per day.
It is not as if a app is strictly necessary for nice mobile use of Wikipedia anymore, but Wikipanion still fulfills a need by making the experience that bit more convenient and good-looking. I still only hit Wikipedia in mobile Safari by following links, any intentional searches I do always start and end in Wikipanion.
Here is some even higher praise: I always miss Wikipanion on my computers.
